Stephen Robert
CO-CHAIR
Stephen Robert is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and is the former Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Watson Institute for International Studies and Public Policy. He is a Trustee of the New York Presbyterian Medical Center and was Chancellor of Brown University from 1998 – 2007.
He served as a Director of the International Board of the U.S. / Middle East Project and is a member of the Foreign Policy Program Leadership Committee at Brookings Institution. Mr. Robert is member of the Board of Trustees of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the Perez Art Museum of Miami. He is member of Investment Committee of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
Mr. Robert and his wife, Pilar Crespi Robert, are the founders of Source of Hope Foundation. Its philanthropic mission is to aid desperate populations, particularly in providing food, water, health care, education and micro-finance opportunities. To date, the foundation’s activities have been primarily in Africa, Haiti, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Colombia and New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Robert jointly won J Street’s 2019 Peace and Justice Award.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert live in Miami, Florida which is also the headquarters of the Source of Hope Foundation.
Pilar Crespi Robert
CO-CHAIR
Pilar Crespi Robert has enjoyed a long career in the fashion industry and in public relations. While living in Rome, she worked as the Fashion Coordinator for the designer Valentino. From 1990 to 1994 she was Worldwide Director of Communications of GUCCI, based in Milano, Italy. In 1995 she moved to New York to open her own public relations agency, Crespi and Mariani Associates, which she sold in 1999. Pilar was awarded the Matrix Award for Public Relations in 1998.
Pilar is currently Vice President of the Board of Henry Street Settlement, a social service agency that serves 60,000 people annually in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She is a member of the Advisory Board of Casita Maria, a charitable organization that serves the Hispanic community in Harlem and in The Bronx.
Pilar serves on the Board of the Institute of Contemporary Art of Miami.
She was also the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Advisory Board in Venice and continues to serve as a Board member. She is the Vice President of the Board of the American Friends of the MAXXI, the contemporary art museum in Rome, Italy.
In January 2009, Pilar became Co-Founder and Co-Chair of Source of Hope Foundation. In 2019, Pilar and Stephen were awarded
J Street’s Peace and Justice Award, at the annual Gala Dinner in Washington, D.C.
